Sunday sessions at RiverFeast

THE RiverFeast crew are gearing up for their first ever Sunday event this weekend.

Owners Greg and Karen Wittkopp said following the success of Friday nights, RiverFeast would now also be open every third Sunday starting from this week.

“We decided to take advantage of the long weekend this month and after that, RiverFeast will be open every third Sunday from 3pm to 7pm,” Mrs Wittkopp said.

With such enormous crowds, the duo said it was time to expand the event- especially now that winter was creeping in.

“We have had such good numbers on a Friday night and we thought, as the cooler weather comes in, why not take advantage of the afternoon sun,” Mrs Wittkopp said.

“Our food vendors will still rotate like they do on Friday nights but we will see a little more retail on Sundays as well.”

“We will also have entertainment, with this Sunday being a country rock duo called Barlight.”

Mrs Wittkopp said the event, which features an array of international street food and retail and art stalls, had successfully remained a top spot for people to visit each week since the opening last year.

“It’s been really good. The first couple of events were enormous. We saw about 3000 people through the doors,” she said.

“Now things have calmed down a bit but we are still seeing big crowds, number have never dropped below 1000.”

She said she hoped the Sunday sessions would become another popular spot for the crowds.

“It is a family friendly event and there is just so much variety. It is something so different for Bundaberg and I think people really appreciate that,” she said.

“We popped the announcement on Facebook over the weekend and it already has over 10,000 views.”

As well as enjoying RiverFeast on Friday nights and every third Sunday, Mrs Wittkopp said venue function hire was also available.

“We have had lots of enquiries from people wanting to organise weddings as well as private parties,” she said.
